Siemens Industry Inc., Automation & Drives Technologies WinCC Version 5.0, is a true 32-bit HMI (Human-Machine Interface) software that is completely integrated with Microsoft Windows NT V4.0.

WinCC combines the standard features of an HMI such as graphics, alarms, trends, recipe management and security with advanced features that include reporting, project cross referencing, process diagnostics, multiple language support, and complete redundancy. In addition, WinCC extends HMI functionality by offering plant floor, database and MES/ERP integration as well as Internet and thin client technologies.

WinCC supports OPC (OLE for Process Control), the industry standard for communicating with automation hardware and software devices on the factory floor. WinCC supports ODBC (Open Database Connectivity), the industry standard for exchanging information with databases such as MS SQLServer, MS Access, and Oracle. Because WinCC supports these standards, getting information into business systems such as SAP is easier, allowing for optimized manufacturing in the digital economy.
