First Technology's patented Twilight Sensor was developed to sense when a vehicle's headlights should be turned on at dusk and off at dawn. The Twilight Sensor's advanced optical technology improves driver safety by making the vehicle more visible to other vehicles and pedestrians.
The sensor uses a custom photo-IC designed for the automotive environment. A diffuser with a custom angular response gives the sensor horizon to horizon sensitivity. The Twilight Sensor responds to light like the human eye due to the spectral characteristics of the diffuser combined with the photo-IC.
