TRAUB TNL 26 / TRAUB TNK 28/36 Headstock Machines
For the first time, turning machines based on a common design system using identical components for tool carriers, front attachment and backworking are available to the user for both standard turning and sliding headstock (Swiss) turning work. Both machine types are identical in
programming, setup, operating and tooling. The TNK (Photo 1) is designed for standard screw machine parts in higher lot sizes from bar stock up to 36 mm or 1.417" DIA. The "Swiss" type TNL (Photo 2) has a bar capacity of 26 mm or 1.023" DIA and offers many new high tech features such as up to 4 tools in cut, a heavy duty counterspindle and extensive backworking capability.
The innovative feature on both models is the design of the main and counterspindle with integrated motorspindle synchronous drive technology, providing high drive power in a compact design package. The machine achieves highest thermal stability by means of the active temperature control system. The synchronous drive technology also provides high power, excellent vibration characteristics and high C-axis stiffness.
The larger TNL 26 provides these additional capabilities to machine the most demanding parts:
- 12 stations and additional Y-axis for turret 1
- 12 stations and additional Y/Z-axis for turret 2 (TNL 26 only)
- 5 or 7 stations and additional X and Z-axis on the front attachment
- 5 stations with additional X and Y-axis on the backworking attachment
