Taylor Hobson Inspection Equipment Certified Q-DAS Compliant

West Chicago, IL - AMETEK Taylor Hobson, a leader in ultra-precision measurement instrumentation for the automotive industry, is the first surface-finish equipment supplier to have its entire product line certified Q-DAS compliant, according to the company.

Taylor Hobson inspection instruments will now have the software option that allows easy transfer of measurement data, including process trace information, to Q-DAS compatible SPC (statistical process control) formats. Q-DAS statistical analysis software has been increasingly adopted as the automotive industry standard for the statistical evaluation of automotive components.

"Q-DAS provides the automotive industry with a standard for the transfer of process control data that permits easier analysis of inspection results and allows automotive manufacturers take component inspection out of the laboratory and locate it right on the shop floor," notes Tom Stewart, President of Q-DAS, Inc.

"Compliance with Q-DAS SPC data transfer formats serves as an excellent example of Taylor Hobson's commitment to provide the automotive industry with products that meet its need for improved efficiency and processing control," he adds

Q-DAS has been a leader in statistical analysis software since 1988 and has worked closely with several major industries, including automotive, in developing and implementing quality control guidelines, standards and procedures.

Taylor Hobson offers the automotive industry a versatile line of ultra-precision measurement products that constitute a user-friendly solution for a wide range of shop floor inspection applications for surface finish, form, roughness and alignment. These include its Form Talysurf PGI and Talyrond family of measurement systems. The PGI systems are designed to measure part shape, roughness and form. The Talyrond Measurement Systems are used for measuring roundness, cylindricity, straightness and now circular and linear roughness.

AMETEK Taylor Hobson is a unit of AMETEK, Inc, a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electric motors with annualized sales of more than $1.8 billion.
