Today, three principles dominate manufacturing procedures:

  • Quality levels must be at world-class standards

  • Program development schedules must be as short as possible

  • Suppliers must be accountable for the performance of the components they produce

ACT Laboratories is dedicated to helping customers address each of these principles. We accomplish this by investing in the best testing equipment, engineers and technicians possible, and by practicing efficiency methods honed to minimize time while maintaining accuracy.

This is most evident in our Pneumatic Cycling Laboratory where a wide variety of parts can be effectively tested in a range of temperature and humidity environments. Customers regularly turn to this facility to measure lifecycle durability and compliance with performance standards.

Typical components that undergo testing include: door panels, glove boxes, consoles, visors, cup holders, power point covers, and interior and exterior vehicle accessories.

When projects allow, ACT often reduces cost and time by creatively using existing fixtures that have proven their value during previous testing functions. In other instances, we will custom-design fixtures to meet the very specific requirements demanded by a procedure.

We'll also combine multiple tests, where appropriate, to obtain additional savings. For example, simultaneous flexibility and corrosion tests can be conducted in extremes of temperature and humidity.

Smart Controller proprietary testing controls

In some cases, such as when costly prototype components are undergoing extended durability tests, ACT's Smart Controllers with load-cell data feedback collection capabilities are valuable assets.

To reduce the potential of destruction during the test process, these controllers can be programmed to automatically switch off when pre-determined testing forces or component displacement parameters are exceeded.

To further enhance speed and accuracy, the Smart Controllers can also be programmed to place a phone or beeper call to the supervising engineer if the test equipment shuts down for any reason. This allows testing cycles to be maintained at their highest efficiencies.
