Delphi Automotive PLCl Sense integrates sensing, electronics and software into a system that alerts drivers when oil changes are needed by taking into account the factors that contribute most to the rate of oil degradation. The sensor tracks oil conductivity, which is sensitive to additive depletion, changes in total acid number and viscosity, key parameters in determining oil condition. It can also detect water and glycol contamination in the oil as well as determine the oil level. The sensor weighs less than 100 grams and can be packaged wherever continuous oil contact can be achieved.
