Piher Int'l.s a 2-bit, low-profile encoder that is ideally suited for applications requiring single or multifunction rotary control interfaced with a digital electronic circuit. The product is available with an optional tactile switch with 0.5mm axial travel and features a low 11mm profile, optional SMD mounting and can be supplied in either AB or BA sequence.
The encoder is standard with 9 or 15 pulses per 360° rotation and can be supplied with mechanical detents in either low or high torque versions. 18 or 20 detents are standard. The product features a sliding contact, offers rotational life of 25,000 cycles and can be supplied for PCB or bushing type fastening.
Typical automotive applications for the CI-11 encoder are car radio tuning controls, climate control including temperature control and airflow distribution and mode switching for navigation systems.
