König celebrated in July 1999 its' 25th Anniversary. König's corporate office is located in Ilsfeld, Germany. It is the oldest Seat Company in operation without any change in ownership or management. König is headed by its founder, Richard König and Gerd Hofmann, the Director.

In the early years König produced mainly sport and race seats for professional and amateur applications. Since OEM seats only fit statistically 66% of the car driving population the demand for better after market seats increased. Therefore, König decided to make comfortable seats available to fit everyone.

Currently, König is on the way to the top with innovative seats in the orthopedic field. To accomplish this König uses only clinical and medical approved testing methods. The only medical recognized lumbar support is the patented Schukra® System, which is widely used in a variety of applications. Another valuable feature is the Detensor® System, which was developed in cooperation with leading specialist in the orthopedic field. König is the only seat manufacturer to exclusively offer this system which realizes an active revitalization of the spine and disc, while in the seat. Independent medical and orthopedic experts have confirmed and endorsed the benefit of König seats.

Besides manufacturing seats for the automotive aftermarket, König has just signed a supply agreement with Volkswagen for the new car production. König also offers a broad spectrum of special seat solutions for cranes, trains and specialized vehicles, such as paramedics. A number of company fleet vehicles are also equipped with König seats, since cost analysis has shown the savings of "healthier" employees.

As a relatively small company with over forty employees, König is able to react quickly to any custom requirements. König will build almost any seat in any desired production volume. The latest development was introduced in the Fall of 2000, the Rehamed. This is a seat for individuals with special orthopedic requirements. This seat allows adjustments of the backrest, seating portion and also individual support sections between left and right.

König is ISO9001 certified and maintains in cooperation with TUV, the highest possible quality standards. Königs goal is to maintain 100% customer satisfaction by offering a full spectrum of seats, of which any individual can choose a seat to fit.

König is worldwide the only seat manufacturer which offers a full scale of different seats for any possible application. König has Distribution Partners in Asia, Australia, Europe and North America. The current production capacity is approximately 3,000 per month with the possibility of expanding.
