Orbital Engine Corp. Ltd. Console is a training tool capable of displaying the key parameters governing engine operation and the key engine outputs including tailpipe emissions. The console uses measured vehicle data from Orbital's Direct Injection system and MPI engines to demonstrate OCP's system performance.
Hydrocarbon, oxides of nitrogen, and fuel consumption can all be displayed, both second by second and the cumulative emissions through the European drive cycle.
The system offers a display of injector spray images as the engine operation moves from light load/low fueling levels in fully stratified operation, to medium and then high-load/high fuelling levels, fully homogeneous operation. The images update as the vehicle progressed through the drive cycle.
Once the cycle is complete, the driver can examine the fuel economy improvement delivered and the impact of modifying vehicle parameters.
