Volkswagen Expands Bus Family And Introduces Volksbus 15,190 ODS

  • Equipped with integral pneumatic suspension, first model to meet the request of operators in big cities, combining operational advantages with comfort on board

Sao Paulo /PRNewswire/ - VW Caminhões e Ônibus expands its portfolio of buses for urban transport: the new Volksbus 15,190 ODS, equipped with integral air suspension, arrives on the market. The model, which was developed to meet the demand of large cities but fits like a glove in charter operations, debuts as the only one in the segment with air suspension.

The novelty combines more comfort for the driver and passengers, better cost-benefit, simplified maintenance and, consequently, more vehicle availability. The front suspension has two pockets and the rear has four, in addition to double-acting telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers and stabilizer bar.

"The Volksbus 15.190 ODS is the result of our proximity to our customers. It was by listening to transport operators in large cities and mapping their needs that we developed the newest VW chassis, which makes its debut in urban passenger transport to combine the renowned strength of the chassis. Volkswagen to comfort for drivers and passengers", comments Jorge Carrer , deputy director of Bus Sales at VW Caminhões e Ônibus.

The chassis is equipped with a MAN D08 engine, with 186 hp and 700 Nm of torque. It has unrivaled strength: more than 2 million vehicles in the world use this propellant, which equips more than 200 thousand vehicles in Brazil. Modern, economical and reliable, it is the quietest engine on the market. The seven-speed ZF manual transmission (six forward and one reverse gears) is associated with the cable system and pneumatic assistance, ensuring light and accurate shifts.

The Volksbus 15.190 is ideal for urban transport on distribution and feeder lines, operating as midibus or short and medium distance chartering. With 15 ton PBT, it is suitable for bodies up to 11 meters in length. Now with front and rear air suspension, the model is tailored to operate on intermediate flow lines, with shorter intervals between shipments.

The Volksbus line was custom-developed to meet the most varied passenger transport demands. With versatile and robust chassis, the portfolio caters to operators that need everything from mini and micro models, which travel more easily in neighborhoods, to chassis with front and rear engines, for distribution and feeder lines.
