ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL, May 19, 1999--MSC Laminates & Composites Inc. (Material Sciences Corporation) announced today they have developed a business agreement with NICO Steel of Singapore. NICO Steel Ltd., a high quality stainless steel warehouse, purchases precious metals, and provides slitting and JIT delivery services to the electronics industry in the Pacific Rim. NICO will become a distributor of Laminates and Composites' Quiet Steel products used to control NVH (noise, vibration, harshness). L&C believes NICO's knowledge and business philosophies complement their own. NICO will be able to provide the technical expertise and service L&C's value-added products require in the Asian market.

"We see significant growth opportunities in electronics, specifically in the disk drive industry, due to the demand for higher performing drives", states Jim Carlen, Vice President of Sales for MSC Laminates and Composites Inc. "Our products have been proven to work quite effectively as DML (Damp Metal Laminates) for disk drive covers. Many drive manufacturers currently use, and are designing with, Quiet Steel. We want to be ready to provide JIT service from Singapore to the local countries, as this business grows. We are also looking into the possibility of developing a joint venture which will allow us to manufacture in Singapore as business opportunities expand. We will be working on those details with our partner in the near future."
