Sonix Inc.ltrasonic Microstructural Analyzer (UMA) is an alternative to destructive testing and is used to measure the case depth of induction-hardened cylindrical steel parts. UMA provides cost saving advantages and offers accurate test results. Unlike Eddy Current testing, UMA outputs quantitative case depth measurement. UMA reduces inspection time by testing up to three zones simultaneously. Sonix Inc.MA software uses patented technology licensed from Pacific Northwest National Laboratories for case depth hardness testing.
The UMA system consists of an industrial computer (Intel based) used as a system controller, MS Windows software, ultrasonic electronics, a multiplexer for electronically switching transducers, and an immersion tank containing a mechanical scanner for rotating parts.
