SmartRelease uses advanced electronic sensors to detect heat and motion, and automatically open the trunk if it senses a person trapped inside.

This technology marks an evolution in the auto industry's efforts to make vehicles a safer environment as the electronic sensors require very little movement on the part of the person trapped in the trunk to activate. The SmartRelease system complements Donnelly's manual emergency trunk release handle that is already in production for several automakers, making Donnelly the only supplier capable of delivering a complete range of trunk release products.
