The Model 104H Seat Test Machine tests automotive seats for spring and fabric wear and durability
The Model 104H Seat Test Machine tests automotive seats for spring and fabric wear and durability, allowing the manufacturer to evaluate long-term use of materials quickly and economically. Essentially, it does this through two tests: the Jounce and Squirm tests. The Jounce test evaluates the springwear of the seat and can be performed independently or simultaneously with the Squirm test. The Squirm test evaluates fabric wear by simulating a person twisting in the seat.
The squirm arm is driven by a servo controlled hydraulic rotary actuator at up to 10 cycles per minute with a squirm angle adjustable from 0° to 50°(dynamic). The adjustable cast aluminum seat form is designed for weights for 0 to 250 pounds and is capable of testing up to 300 pounds. The Model 5436 also comes with a hydraulic pivot arm lift for drop testing.
